After your surgery

Your safety while recovering is important to us. To ensure a safe recovery, please abide by these recommendations:

  • Before you leave the surgery center, we will give you written instructions for post-operative care at home.

  • When home, be sure to follow your physician’s orders regarding diet, rest, medication and activity. It is not unusual to feel a little sleepy, light-headed or dizzy for several hours after your surgery.

  • A nurse from the surgery center will call you the business day after your surgery to see how you are recovering and answer any questions you may have. If concerns arise over the weekend, or after our business hours, contact your surgeon’s office, and ask for your physician to be paged.

  • For your safety, do not drive a car, smoke, drink alcoholic beverages, operate machinery, cook, sign any important papers or make any significant decisions for 24 hours after surgery.
